Hyderabad: The big cat has been found yet again strolling in Rajendranagar area. It was spotted near the Jayashankar Telangana State Agricultural University last week.
Despite a lot of efforts from the forest officials and police authorities, the feline couldn’t be caught and it kept disappearing. As such, around 25 CCTV cameras were installed to track the leopard and tranquilize it after its appearance near the university.
Its sighting in vicinity of the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Police Academy in Shivrampally has sent shivers down the spine of people residing in the nearby areas.
In a viral picture, the leopard was seen walking leisurely outside the compound wall which is supposed to be one of the associate buildings of the agricultural university. The time of the sighting according to the camera is 11.14pm on Monday.
A second picture which has been released shows the big cat walking around the Gagan Pahad forest area. According to the officials, the animal is choosing the area near the forest and its surrounding places to stay and not entering the residential areas in Rajendranagar.
When the Cyberabad police authorities were approached, they did not comment on the sighting. However, people are being warned not to linger around casually in the area, especially in the evenings.
This is believed to be the same leopard which was spotted on May 14th resting on a road at Mailardevpally on the outskirts of Hyderabad which sent panic among the people. It was lying near a divider and seemed to be injured. Another viral video of the leopard had done the rounds where a few stray dogs were seen barking at the animal who was trying to jump through what appeared to be the doors of a closed store.
After the sighting, the local residents had informed the police. A rescue team along with the police officials had reached the place and started the operation. They placed traps in order to tranquilize and trap the animal. The leopard outwitted them and disappeared into a private multi-acre farm in Shamshabad. More recently, it had been spotted near Himayat Sagar before wilding away in the nearby areas. Since then, it is only being spotted through videos and cctv cameras. However, the search is still on to catch the big cat.
