NGWF members from the Mancherial chapter continued their charity efforts on Saturday, distributing food, bread, fruits, and bedsheets to flood victims in different parts of the district.
According to Kasam Shiva Keerthi, president of the chapter, 1,500 victims of NTR Nagar, Ramnagar, the old-age home Ananda Nilayam and Mancherial district headquarters, and Velala village in Jaipur mandal were provided with bread, bananas, bedsheets, towels during the three days, as per advice from Latha Botla, founder of the group. With the help of chapter members, donors, and philanthropists of the district, they raised funds for the cause.
As a result of the floods, the president urged donors to come forward to assist the needy. Thanks were extended to those who cooperated with the gesture. According to her, groceries kits will be distributed soon to the victims. There were many others who took part in the initiative, including Bhavana Rohini, Latha Boppu, and Deepa Edidineni.
Hyderabad-based NGWF serves the needy through its international voluntary organization. As a result of providing nutritious and sumptuous meals to the patients of Covid-19, the members of the organization won laurels.
In Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts, the heavy rains registered from July 9 to 15 affected normal life and damaged crops being raised on over 1 lakh acres.
Due to the downpour, streams and rivulets received fresh sand, delighting miners who illicitly mine and transport the mineral in various parts of the district.
Between April 1 of 2021 and March 31 of 2022, 438 cases of illegal sand mining and transportation were recorded in the district, and fines worth Rs 38.59 lakh were imposed against the offenders.
Between April 1 and June 30, 98 cases were filed against the miners. In the case of first-time offenders, a fine of Rs 5,000 is imposed, and in the case of habitual offenders, a fine of Rs 15,000 is imposed.
