Hyderabad: The Keesara police on Monday arrested three members of a criminal gang, who had stolen cash from Karur Vysya Bank ATM at Nagaram in Keesara Mandal. Ironically, the cash was being deposited by the leader of the gang, who was entrusted with the replenishment of cash in the ATM on sub-contract.
The gangsters were identified as Sai Ram Sai Kiran, 26, of Kummari Basthi, Yapral in Medchal district; Kumari Narsing Rao Pooja alias Pooja, 23, of Ammuguda Bazar, Yapral; Thattikonda Nagaraju, 28, of Vajpainagar, Neredmet, Malkajgiri Mandal of Medchal district.
Keesara SHO B. Prakash said gang leader Sai Ram Sai Kiran deposited Rs 47,37,700 deposited and his accomplices have stolen the cash from the ATM. The police recovered Rs 40,24,909 cash, a Baleno car, three cheque books and a few bank pass books from the accused.
On December 21, 2018, the Keesara police received a complaint from Maryada Krishna Reddy, Assistant Manager, N.C.R Corporation India Private Limited, Begumpet, stating that his company had taken a contract from Messrs Karur Vysya Bank to deposit cash in various ATMs of the bank and later entrusted the work of maintenance, cash replenishment on a sub-contract to Messrs Writer Safeguard Private Limited (WSG).
Later, they found that an amount of Rs 47,37,700 that was supposedly deposited by the staff of Writer Safeguard from time to time, was found stolen from the ATM of Karur Vysya Bank at Nagaram. The complainant suspected complicity of a former employee of WSG and sought immediate action.
After booking a case under Sections 379, 408, 420 IPC, the Keesara SHO collected technical evidence like CC camera footages from the ATM of Karur Vysys Bank, Nagaram and arrested the three members of the gang.
Investigation disclosed that Sai Ram Kiran, who had access to keys of the ATM for depositing/replenishing of cash in the ATM, used the same key to open the ATM, after depositing the cash, and stole the very cash that was being deposited by him. He chalked out this plan in connivance with the two other accused — Pooja his girl friend and Naga Raju, a friend. The stolen amount was transferred to different accounts of the two friends as per plan. (NSS)
