Three held in case of beheading auto driver

HyderabadThree persons, including a woman, were arrested by the Miyapur police in the sensational case of beheading of an auto driver Gaddam Praveen, 22, of Srivaninagar Colony, Ameenpur, Sangareddy District and native of Teegalaveni village under Gudur Mandal of Mahaboobabad District.

The arrested were identified as Dokku Srikanth Yadav, 30, Kukkala Naga Srinu, 20, and Dokku Swathi, 27, all residents of Miyapur and natives of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Madhapur) A Venkateshwara Rao said Srikanth Yadav suspected Praveen of planning to kill him with the help of a few persons.

Srikanth was previously involved in an attempt to murder case reported at Ameenpur police station in 2017 and Praveen was his close associate. “For last few months, Praveen was moving along with another person whom Srikanth had attempted to kill in 2017. Srikanth suspected that Praveen was planning to eliminate him. However, their common friends tried to broker a compromise between them,” said the DCP. However, Srikanth continued to live under constant fear that Praveen would kill him.

With the assistance of his wife Swathi and an associate Naga Srinu, Srikanth decided to kill Praveen. On Thursday night, Srikanth and Srinu brought Praveen to his house in an auto driven by his friend Rajesh. Later, Srikanth strangulated Praveen to death with a scarf handed over by his wife Swathi. Later, Srikanth, Srinu and Rajesh took the body to an isolated place in Miyapur, beheaded it and threw the severed head at Miyapur crossroads.

On a complaint from Mallani Keshava, 23, SC Madiga of Ambedkarnagar, Miyapur, the police registered a case under Sections 302, 201 read with 34 IPC, Sec 3 (2)(v) of SC,ST (POA) Act-2015 and arrested Srikanth, Srinu and Swathi on Sunday. The police seized one knife, mobile phone, a bullet motorcycle from the suspects.

The complainant said he had seen head of deceased in front of Tasty Kings Bakery, beside Rohith Wines, Miyapur crossroads on Bachupally road. Later, Rajesh was called by police to the spot at Miyapur crossroads and identified the head of the deceased at Sy. No.100, 101  between Dharmapuri  temple and Dumping yard.

The DCP said principal accused Sreeknath has criminal history of beating people at Auto stand and involved in an attempt to murder case in 2017 and a hurt case at Ramachandrapuram PS. He was active in Auto rental business and lending money to petty Auto drivers. (NSS)
