Tight security at Golconda Bonalu in Hyderabad

Police Commissioner CV Anand visited the Sree Jagadamba Mahankali temple in Golconda on Thursday to see what preparation was being done for the festival of Bonalu. In addition to meeting with temple authorities, the Commissioner inspected barricades, lighting, and accessibility at the counters and line-up areas.

Any objects or articles found on the premises should be reported to the fort’s control room, he requested.

He later examined the route of the procession from Langar House to Golconda. The procession route will be patrolled by 800 police officers and supported by eight TSSP platoons. Due to the high number of women devotees visiting the temple, SHE team will also be deployed.

June 30 Marks Celebrations of Golconda Bonalu

There was a lot of excitement in Golconda on Wednesday, in advance of the Bonalu festival, which will set the tone for the rest of the city over the next few weeks. Ramulu, 67, said, “This festival is the most awaited of the year for us. It is the festival where my family and I worship the Yellamma Talli.”

From the Langar Hauz junction at noon, a joyous procession will ascend to the Sri Jagadamba Mahankali Alayam, which is located atop the Golconda Fort. Every year, this temple marks the beginning of the Bonalu season, which is followed by celebrations at 3,000 or so other temples throughout the state during the following few weeks. The nine-day Bonalu festival is observed at the Golconda shrine. A “Uragimpu” procession will take place on the first day, followed by a “Bonam” procession from Banjara Darwaza and a Vigrahapeetam rite in which the deities of the idols will be established. Beginning on June 30, Golconda Bonalu will be celebrated, followed by Secunderabad Bonalu, Hyderabad Bonalu, and on June 24, Charminar and the surrounding localities.
