TMDWA resents no response to complaint from GHMC on irregularities in tax collections

Hyderabad: The activists of Telangana Mazdoor  Development Welfare Association here on Thursday alleged that there was no response from the Chief Secretary and the GHMC Commissioner on their complaint related to several irregularities being taking place in the assessment of property tax and collections in the corporation limits. They said they lodged a complaint to the two top officers some six months back, but no action has been initiated by the authorities so far.

Addressing media persons here, the TMDWA leaders warned that they would ask the residents to not vote for the ruling TRS party in the upcoming municipal elections if their problems were not solved. President of the association MD Samiulla Qureshi, general secretaries  Jai Singh, Balakishan Rao Naamdari and advocate Mirza Sajid Baig alleged that the GHMC officials were collecting residential tax from the property owners of No 5 and 6 wards in Circle No. 14 of the corporation instead of commercial tax.

They also alleged that the GHMC officials were forcibly collecting more from those residents, who have arrears against their properties. They also alleged that the GHMC staff from the Circle No 14 were not transferred since the last 20 years in clear violation of the norm that they should be transferred once three years. They also alleged that the Bill Collectors were sending private people to collect the taxes.
