Pallapolu Navdeep, a Tollywood actor, was questioned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday in connection with an alleged drug trafficking case. The actor appeared at the ED’s regional office in Hyderabad, where he was questioned about money transactions by central agency personnel.
The ED had given Navdeep a notice inviting him for interrogation. This is not his first experience with the ED; he was previously questioned in a drug-related case involving numerous Tollywood celebrities. The Telangana State Narcotics Bureau (TSNAB) had also questioned him in September about his alleged ties to recently captured drug traffickers.
During his interrogation, officials allegedly examined Call Detail Record (CDR) records and WhatsApp discussions between Navdeep and a man named Ram Chand, who had been detained for drug-related operations. According to the actor, CDR records from the previous 7 to 8 years were collected and evaluated as part of the inquiry.
In 2017, Navdeep was one of the Tollywood celebrities questioned by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Telangana’s Prohibition of Excise Department over a high-end drug ring. In 2021, he and other members of the film business were questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the same case. Following that, the SIT exonerated these celebrities of any participation in the narcotics case.
It was recently revealed that Navdeep has been escaping arrest in the latest case. He had applied to the Telangana High Court for anticipatory bail, and the court ordered that the police not use coercive measures against him, enabling them to question him after issuing a notice. He was served with a notice by the TSNAB under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code.
The presence of Tollywood star Navdeep before the Enforcement Directorate is part of an ongoing probe into an alleged drug trafficking case. This is another chapter in the actor’s legal dealings with drug-related claims, as he continues to cooperate with authorities.
