TRS Akarsh yielding results

Hyderabad: Days after the completion of Assembly elections in Telangana State, the ruling TRS party appears to have shifted its focus on consolidating its position in the State. It has launched a political Akarsh (attract) program to lure rival party public representatives to its fold.

The party has succeeded in its attempts. Four Congress MLCs have merged their Legislative Council wing with the ruling TRS on Friday. The MLCs have submitted a representation urging Council chairman Swami Goud to merge their party with the ruling TRS. Acting swiftly, the chairman issued orders approving the request made by the Congress MLCs.

A day after successful execution of the strategy, the ruling party has targeted the TDP and its two elected MLAs. Senior MLA of the TTDP Sandra Venakta Veeraiah, who hit a hat-trick from Sattupally Assembly segment of Khammam district, has made up his mind to join the TRS. He has already held a meeting with his supporters and made up his mind to join the TRS party.

According to his party sources, the TRS party has offered him a minister’s post if he came to its fold. Besides this, Veeraiah is an accused in the sensational Cash for vote scam that rattled the entire state a couple of years back. It is said that Veeraiah is of the strong opinion that he would also get rid of the case if he joined the TRS party. Apparently, Veeraiah also held a meeting with his party colleague from Ashwaraopeta assembly segment Mecha Nageswara Rao and asked him to join the ruling TRS. However, Rao reportedly refused his request in a polite manner. Rao also addressed media persons on the  issue and made it clear that he would continue in TDP. (NSS)
