TRS govt not releasing funds to villages: CLP

Hyderabad: Alleging that the State government was not releasing funds to the villages, CLP Deputy Leader T Jeevan Reddy said development was taking place in the villages with the funds released by the Centre through 14 th Commission, NREGA funds. He said the Centre was also releasing funds for the development of burial grounds in the villages.

Speaking at Assembly Media Hall here on Saturday, Jeevan Reddy alleged that the State government was not conducting panchayat elections deliberately. The State government has failed to conduct BC census following the High Court’s verdict while removing interim orders issued in 2016. Due to this failure, the State government was not conducting panchayat elections in time, he alleged.

Stating that the State government set up Most Backward Class (MBC) Corporation by allotting Rs 1,000 crore, Jeevan Reddy said the State government didn’t even spent Rs 1000 from them. This proves Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has only lip sympathy towards BCs, he said, adding that the Chief Minister brought the new issue of appointing panchayat secretaries on to the screen. He claimed that the Chief Minister was defusing the local bodies slowly while doing injustice to the BCs.

Reminding the Chief Minister’s statement that the BCs’ population was recorded in Comprehensive Family Survey conducted in the first year of TRS government, Jeevan Reddy alleged that the State government has failed to announce the BCs population then. He demanded that the State government conduct gram panchayat elections immediately or clothe special powers to the present sarpanches till fresh elections were conducted.

Describing sanitary workers as daliths, Jeevan Reddy said the sanitary employees were on the road as they were not getting salaries. He also demanded that the State government pay Rs 10,000 as minimum salary to the sanitary workers. (NSS)
