Hyderabad: Minister for Health and Medical Etela Rajender has said today that 6,47,823 families were benefited in the State under the ‘KCR Kit’ scheme introduced for the benefit pregnant women in the State. A sum of Rs.826.50n crore was spent on this scheme till now.
The Minister said in reply to questions of members in the State Assembly here, that Telangana was the only state in the country which was arranging vehicles for taking pregnant women to Hospitals for delivery, making deliveries and giving KCR kit plus Rs.12,000 in case of the birth of a male child and Rs.13,000 in case of female child and sending back the mother and child to their homes.
Etela said that following the implementation of the scheme, deliveries in Government hospitals in the State rose from 30 to 51 percent. Adequate facilities and required staff are available in the Hospitals. About Rs.28 crore was spent on developing labor rooms and Rs.640.35 crore was spent on setting up of 39 Mother and child hospitals and providing necessary services therein. Phototherapy machines and other facilities were provided. In the Hospitals, 229 gynecologists, 208 anesthesia doctors, 205 children specialists, and 1225 staff nurses and 1051 Does were already appointed. Recently, sanction was given for nine more Mother and child welfare hospitals, he added.
