Hyderabad: Telangana State Council of Science & Technology (TSCOST) today organized a Consultation meeting with Stakeholders for Formulating Proposals based on Skill Vigyan at Aranya Bhavan, as a part of Skill Vigyan Initiative of Union Department of Bio Technology and State Partnership Program.
Ajay Mishra, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to State Government, EFS&T Department, was the chief guest. He called upon the Scientific Community to concentrate on human resource development in Bio Technology sector by way of injecting skills among the unemployed youth, students, research scholars and also the faculty members of Telangana State so as to make them employable or self employable or turn them into prospective entrepreneurs. Skill Development among Human Resources is a must for a flourishing Biotechnology Sector and the State Government also would extend support for such a move, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Mishra, IAS, said the State was in the forefront of Bio Tech and Life Sciences Research and its application in the areas of Health care, Agriculture, Pharmaceuticals, Food Processing and so on. He hoped that this would provide good scope for human resource development in these sectors.
Prof. Ravi Kumar Puli, Member-Secretary, TSCOST said the Union Department of Bio Technology was spearheading the Bio Tech Skill Vigyan Initiative all over the country and invited proposals from Telangana State. The Workshop received tremendous response and attracted the attention of experts from Research Laboratories, Academic Institutions, Training Institutions and Industry to take part in this endeavour.
G. Krishnaveni, Joint Secretary of EFS& T Dept said the need of the hour was to train the educated youth to enable them to become self sustainable and suggested to prepare programs on these lines. Scientists, Academicians and Experts from several Research, Academic and Industry Institutions participated and presented their proposals on Skill Development in Biotechnology Sector. (NSS)
