In a tragic incident that has shocked the Hyderabad local media community, Telugu TV news presenter Swetcha Votarkar (35) was found dead at her residence in Chikkadpally on Friday evening, with police suspecting suicide by hanging.
Swetcha, who lived in the penthouse of an apartment building, was residing with her mother and young school-going daughter.
According to preliminary information, the incident came to light when her daughter returned home from school and noticed that Swetcha was not responding despite continuous knocking on the bedroom door. Alarmed, the child alerted neighbors, who forcibly opened the door only to find Swetcha lying unconscious inside the room.

An ambulance was called immediately, but the paramedics declared her dead at the scene. The Chikkadpally Police reached the spot shortly after receiving the information and began a formal investigation.
The body has since been shifted to Gandhi Hospital mortuary for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Authorities are yet to confirm the reasons behind the alleged suicide. Further investigation is ongoing.
