City East Zone Taskforce personnel yesterday conducted simultaneous raids at two different places under Amberpet and Mirchowk Police Stations and apprehended two accused identified as Mohd Asif Hussain and Abdul Raheem Khan. They also seized about 50 quintals of PDS rice and one Tata Ace vehicle from their possession.
Police said Mohd Asif Hussain, 21, of Bholakpur in Musheerabad was in plastic business and Abdul Raheem Khan, 32, of Dabeerpura was in footwear business at Chatta Bazaar. Police said the duo purchase PDS rice from the card holders @ Rs 8 per Kg in Amberpet and Mirchowk and other localities and smuggle the same to Bidar in autorickshaws and sell it to kirana shops and flour mills at the rate of Rs 12 per KG.
On June 8, the police personnel, along with Civil Supplies officials apprehended the accused at New Bridge road, Golnaka, Amberpet and near Amazon hotel, Mirchowk, Hyderabad respectively and seized PDS Rice of 50 quintals along with one Tata Ace vehicle.
The accused along with the seized PDS rice were handed over to SHOs of Amberpet and Mirchowk Police Stations. (NSS)
