Hyderabad: For the first time, two teachers have been detained by the Cyberabad Police under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act in connection with sexual offences on minor girl students. The accused Syed Akbar, 55, and Dappu Santosh Kumar, 25, were arrested in separate cases of sexual harassment of minor girls.
In a statement here on Saturday, Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the two ‘sexual offenders’, being teachers had committed the ‘wicked act of trapping minor girls in their love and sexually assaulted them. “The other girl students were not only frightened but also felt insecure to go to school and talk to the male teachers. The parents of girl students also got panicky and are unwilling to send their children to the schools,” he said, adding that the acts of these teachers were prejudicial to the maintenance of public order and that they had to be kept out of the society by detaining them in prison to prevent them to from repeating such offences.
Syed Akbar, a native of Chevella and headmaster of the Government Upper Primary School in Muchinthal of Shamshabad, had developed intimacy with a minor girl, a former student of his school. Initially, he helped her in her studies and gradually trapped her in his love. Police said he had kidnapped the girl and took her to Golconda Fort and married her without any legal sanctity and continued to sexually assault her.
In the second case, Santhosh Kumar, of Vatpally in Sangareddy, was a private teacher of St. Agatha Model High School in Sanathnagar. He had got close to a Class X student in the school, gifted her a cell phone and gradually trapped her in the name of love. When the parents of victim noticed their conversations on phone, he took her to his relative’s house and confined her there for 12 days, during which he sexually assaulted her. (NSS)
