UK Watchdog Sues Meta Over Acquiring Giphy To Protect Advertisers

In the latest update, the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has fined Meta (previously Facebook) $2 million for neglecting to uncover key changes in regards to its $315 million securing of online information base and web index Giphy.

Facebook-Giphy Acquisition Might Hamper UK Advertisers 

As per the CMA, Meta neglected to inform the regulator about the abdication of three vital representatives and the redistribution of their jobs. In November, the UK against trust guard dog had requested Meta to sell Giphy, as the securing could hurt web-based media clients and UK advertisers.
Facebook had moved to purchase the internet-based GIF stage in May 2020.
