According to Telangana BJP sources, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will meet acclaimed filmmaker S S Rajamouli, the director of blockbuster films ‘RRR’ and ‘Baahubali’, in Hyderabad on Thursday. Shah’s trip to Telangana is part of the BJP’s month-long ‘Maha Jansampark Abhiyan,’ and he will also speak at a public rally in Khammam, around 200 km from Hyderabad.
During his visit, Shah will meet Rajamouli and other significant figures from the state. In May of last year, Shah met actor Jr NTR, who starred in the film ‘RRR.’ He also met actor Ram Charan and Telugu film veteran Chiranjeevi in March of this year.
Shah’s visit would begin with special prayers at the Sri Rama temple in Bhadrachalam, followed by a trip to Khammam for the public gathering. He will next take a road trip to Vijayawada before boarding a special flight to Ahmedabad in the evening.
In the 2019 Assembly elections, the BJP hopes to position itself as an alternative to Telangana’s ruling party, the BRS. The party wants to make Shah’s public meeting a major event in order to gain support and make an impact.
