Telangana is experiencing an unusually intense heatwave for this time of the year, with daytime temperatures soaring to mid-summer levels, typically seen in April and May. In the last 48 hours, Hyderabad has recorded temperatures between 36°C and 37°C, while some districts have already touched 39°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad, the abnormal heat spell is expected to ease slightly, with temperatures possibly dropping by one or two degrees between Thursday and Friday. However, no significant change is expected in overall maximum and minimum temperatures over the next three days, and the weather will remain hot and dry across the state.
February 18 and 19 are being considered the peak of this heatwave, with some areas of Hyderabad crossing 37°C. While a slight dip in temperatures is expected between February 20 and 25, high humidity levels will still make the weather feel uncomfortably warm, with temperatures hovering around 35°C.

According to Hyderabad-based weather forecaster T. Balaji, temperatures will rise again from February 27, extending the unseasonal heatwave into late February.
The unexpected heatwave has taken residents by surprise, as February usually brings cooler and pleasant weather. With temperatures soaring, health experts advise people to stay hydrated, avoid direct sun exposure, and take necessary precautions to prevent heat-related illnesses.
Authorities continue to monitor the weather situation, and citizens are urged to stay updated with IMD forecasts for further developments.
