UPI Payment Introduced in TGSRTC Buses for Hyderabad Commuters

In a significant step towards digital transactions, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has introduced the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payment facility for commuters traveling within Hyderabad and on select high-end buses. This initiative, implemented a few days ago, aims to provide passengers with a seamless and cashless ticketing experience.

With this new system in place, passengers can now pay for their tickets through UPI-enabled apps, making the process quicker and more convenient. Upon successful payment, a ticket will be generated instantly, ensuring a hassle-free journey for commuters. However, cash payments will continue to be an option for those who prefer traditional methods.

The UPI payment facility has been rolled out in 2,800 buses operating within the Hyderabad city limits and in approximately 1,800 high-end buses, including Rajadhani AC, Lahari, Super Luxury, and Deluxe services. This expansion is expected to significantly benefit passengers, particularly those who prefer digital transactions over carrying cash.

TGSRTC officials have expressed confidence that this move will enhance the efficiency of ticketing operations and encourage more commuters to adopt digital payments. Additionally, the introduction of UPI payments is aligned with the state government’s efforts to promote cashless transactions in public services.

Passengers have welcomed this initiative, stating that it reduces dependency on cash and minimizes delays caused by handling change. Many commuters also believe that digital payments improve accountability and transparency in the ticketing process.

As the TGSRTC continues to modernize its services, it is expected that more buses will be equipped with digital payment options in the near future, further enhancing the convenience of public transportation in Telangana.
