Telangana Formation Day was observed with spirited enthusiasm across the state today, with vibrant celebrations unfolding in government institutions, schools, colleges, and private organizations. A highlight among these was the commemorative event held at Veeranari Chakali Ilamma Women’s University, widely recognized as women’s collage koti — the first women’s university in Telangana.

The university’s celebrations commenced promptly at 9:00 AM with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony in front of the iconic Durbar Hall. Vice Chancellor Prof. Surya Dhanunjaya unfurled the national flag, which was followed by an impressive ceremonial salute from the NCC cadets.

Following the flag ceremony, a formal program was convened within the Durbar Hall, presided over by Prof. Dhanunjaya. In her address, she extended warm wishes to the academic community — including faculty, staff, students, and invited guests — on the occasion of Telangana Formation Day, underscoring the importance of remembering the sacrifices that led to the creation of the state.

Renowned academic and social thinker Dr. Venkatesh Chauhan served as the chief guest for the event. Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Chauhan recounted the enduring and determined efforts that culminated in the formation of Telangana. He highlighted the instrumental role played by student organizations across the state’s universities, offering heartfelt tributes to their leadership and resilience during the statehood movement.

The event witnessed strong participation from faculty members representing various departments. Among them Department of Urdu. Led by Dr. Naseem Sultana (Head of Department), the Urdu faculty team also included Dr. Ghausia Bano, Dr. Sameena Begum, Dr. Noori Khatoon, and Dr. Md Ehteshamul Hasan. They extended warm greetings on this momentous day.

More than just a commemoration, the university’s celebration of Telangana Formation Day served as a powerful reminder of the state’s cultural and political journey, instilling pride and inspiration in the hearts of the younger generation.
