Actor Vijay Deverakonda is currently in full swing promoting his upcoming film Kingdom, set for a theatrical release on May 30. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, the film has already sparked excitement, with its latest song climbing the music charts shortly after release.
Following Kingdom, Deverakonda is set to begin filming a new project under the direction of Rahul Sankrityan, with production by Mythri Movie Makers. The actor-director duo previously collaborated on the 2018 hit Taxiwala. According to industry sources, popular actress Rashmika Mandanna is expected to join the cast as the female lead.
This potential reunion has generated buzz among fans, as Vijay and Rashmika have earlier delivered successful films like Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Their frequent social media interactions and friendly banter with director Sankrityan have fueled further speculation about Rashmika’s role in the upcoming film.

Rashmika is currently balancing multiple projects, including her films Girlfriend and Kubera, both slated for release soon, along with an ongoing Hindi film project. However, Vijay Deverakonda recently found himself at the center of controversy following remarks made at a Retro-themed event.
While addressing the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, he used the term “tribes” in reference to ancient human classifications, which led to backlash from Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities in Telangana who found the term offensive.
In response, the actor issued a clarification, stating that his usage was based on the term’s dictionary definition and was not meant to reference modern ST communities. He emphasized that his intention was to convey a message of peace, unity, and human progress. Expressing regret, he said he was sorry if his words hurt anyone.
Despite the controversy, fans remain excited about Deverakonda’s busy year ahead—with back-to-back film releases, high-profile collaborations, and a possible on-screen reunion with Rashmika Mandanna.
