The long-awaited dream of the people of Warangal is on the brink of becoming a reality, as the Telangana government, under the leadership of Revanth Reddy, takes decisive steps towards making the Mamnoor Airport operational. This initiative marks a major milestone in the city’s development and is expected to boost Warangal’s connectivity, economic prospects, and position as a key hub in the state.
Konda Surekha, the Minister for Forest, Environment, and Endowments, along with local Members of Parliament (MPs), Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), and government officials, conducted an important site visit to inspect the land acquisition process required for the construction of the Mamnoor Airport. During the visit, Surekha met with residents from Gadipally, Gunturupally, and Nakkalapally villages, discussing the land acquisition process that will involve 253 acres of land.
The land acquisition process is a critical component of the airport project, and the minister assured the local farmers whose lands will be affected that they would be compensated fairly. Surekha emphasized that compensation would be based on the current market value of the land. Additionally, 233 farmers and landowners who would lose their land for the airport’s construction will be allocated alternative plots of land, in line with their preferences. Infrastructure improvements, including better roads, drainage systems, electricity, and other essential amenities, will also be provided to the farmers, as per their needs.

In a recent visit to Warangal, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy had made an announcement that Warangal would soon be developed as the second capital of Telangana. Reddy also confirmed that the Mamnoor Airport would play a key role in this transformation, and that it would be operational in the near future.
The Telangana government is committed to developing Warangal on par with Hyderabad, with the Mamnoor Airport forming an integral part of this ambitious plan. Minister Konda Surekha noted that the airport would cater to the growing industrial needs of the city and that there were long-term plans to upgrade it into an international airport. The project is expected to significantly enhance Warangal’s connectivity, making it more accessible for business, tourism, and international trade.
Although there were initial concerns about the feasibility of establishing another commercial airport within a 150-kilometre radius of Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, the Telangana government has reportedly persuaded the Central Government and the GMR Group to give the green light for the Mamnoor Airport project.
Sources confirm that construction work for the airport is set to commence soon, signaling a new era of development for Warangal. The Mamnoor Airport is expected to bring tremendous benefits to the region, improving infrastructure, creating jobs, and boosting economic activities in Warangal and surrounding areas.
Once completed, the Mamnoor Airport will not only serve as a vital transportation hub for the people of Warangal but will also help to decentralize development in the state, making Telangana a more connected and economically integrated region. The focus on creating infrastructure, compensating farmers fairly, and building a sustainable future for Warangal reflects the Telangana government’s vision for a more balanced and inclusive growth across the state.
