Hyderabad: An interesting debate is going on in political circles, more so in the TRS circles, on the issue of inducting women in the Council of Ministers to be headed by KCR at least now. It is known that in the first Ministry of KCR, there were no women.
Many in the party are of the view that KCR will not commit the mistake of not including a woman in the Ministry this time, as that factor has come in for severe criticism from all the opposition parties, and it was actually made an election issue. Opposition parties have criticized KCR for not having a woman as Minister and alleged that he was anti-women.
In the Assembly elections now, three women candidates were elected on TRS party ticket, namely Padma Devender Reddy from Medak, Gongidi Suneetha from Aleru, and Rekha Naik from Khanapur (ST). Probably, one of them might be taken into Ministry now, observers feel. Padma Devender Reddy had been the Deputy Speaker in the dissolved Assembly.
It maybe mentioned that in all, six women candidates made it to the Assembly in the elections this time, three from the ruling TRS and three from Praja Front (Congress).(NSS)
