In an election campaign address in Kagaznagar, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath slammed Muslim reservations, calling them ‘unconstitutional.’ By adopting reservations for Muslims, Adityanath accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government in Telangana of wanting to do injustice to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and weaker groups.
In a speech to a crowd, Adityanath declared that if the BJP is elected, he will try to eliminate Muslim reservations. He referred to the BRS as the ‘Brashtachar Rishwat Kor Samiti’ and accused Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao of holding the state ‘hostage’ for personal gain, alleging a diversion from the stated focus on water, money, and jobs.
The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said that since the BJP took control in the state with a ‘double engine’ administration, there hasn’t been a “single day of riots” in the state. He contrasted this with conditions like Telangana in which farmers are forced to commit suicide.
Adityanath appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vow to offer 10 lakh employment, claiming that 6 lakh have already been supplied and the other 4 lakh will be provided soon.
Adityanath accused the BRS and Congress of being covert friends, and the AIMIM of being part of the’syndicate,’ and he also assailed the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), whose state president R S Praveen Kumar is a strong contender from Sirpur.
Telangana will go to the polls on November 30, and Adityanath’s remarks reflect the state’s increasing political rhetoric as numerous parties compete for electoral support.
