The much-anticipated 6-lane flyover connecting Zoo Park to Aramghar is now set to be inaugurated on December 9, 2024. Initially, the Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, was scheduled to inaugurate the project on December 3. However, the program was postponed due to pending work on the service road adjacent to the flyover, especially near the Zoo Park’s main gate.
The last-minute delay has been attributed to the incomplete construction of the service road, which is critical for ensuring smooth traffic flow. Officials from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) stated that additional time was needed to complete the road and resolve related issues.
In preparation for the inauguration, GHMC’s Town Planning Department launched a rapid demolition drive in the area. Structures, including 17 shops, hotels, and other business establishments near Zoo Park, were demolished to make way for the service road. This unexpected move has disrupted businesses and impacted the livelihoods of shopkeepers and restaurant owners.

The demolition has also created challenges for visitors to Zoo Park, who are now struggling to find food and other essentials in the vicinity. Local shopkeepers have expressed concerns over the short notice and the adverse impact on their earnings.
While the flyover inauguration faced delays, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy virtually inaugurated the Mir Alam Sewage Treatment Plant at the I-Max Ground on December 3. The project is expected to significantly improve sewage management in the area.
The 6-lane flyover, a key component of Hyderabad’s Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP), aims to ease congestion and improve connectivity between Zoo Park and Aramghar. Once inaugurated, it is expected to benefit thousands of commuters daily and enhance the overall infrastructure of the city. Authorities are now racing against time to complete the remaining work and ensure the flyover is ready for public use by the revised inauguration date.
