18 killed as Aircraft Crashes During Takeoff at Kathmandu Airport

A tragic accident unfolded at Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday morning, as a Saurya Airlines aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff, resulting in the deaths of all 19 people onboard. The Bombardier CRJ 200 aircraft, bound for the popular resort town of Pokhara, went down around 11 am local time.

Witnesses reported that the plane caught fire following the crash, though emergency services swiftly extinguished the blaze. The aircraft, part of Saurya Airlines’ small fleet, was in the process of departing when the incident occurred.
