19 Phones Recovered From Tihar Jail During Surprise Check

As per the latest reports, around 19 cell phones were recuperated from the inmates of the high-security Tihar Jail in the national capital during an unexpected check, an authority said on Saturday.

Electronics Recovered From Tihar Jail 

The unexpected check was led by the prison experts on the interceding evening of January 6-7, sources informed the media. “During the checking at 19 telephones (six androids + 13 small ones), Rs 1,500, chargers, wires and high-quality sharp articles were seized,” they said.

The matter became known only a day after a detainee was hospitalized after he gulped a cell phone. Chief General (Prison) Sandeep Goel informed the media that the episode occurred on January 5.

“In spite of the fact that his condition was fine up to this point, yet cell phone was as yet inside his body,” Goel had said on Friday.

Tihar Jail Heightens Security
