In Hyderabad, 2,68,542 bogus voters have been removed from electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming Telangana assembly elections. This was done according to the standard operating procedure (SOP).
A total of 10, 25, 987 Photo Similar Entries (PSEs) have been deleted across all 119 assembly constituencies. An earlier report by the Election Commission of India (ECI) shared details of 22,04,663 PSEs found on electoral rolls with all Electoral Registration Officers (EROs).
According to the state’s Election Return Officers’ (EROs), Admission Reporting Officers’ (AEROs), Boards of Local Election, and supervisors’ SOPs, District Election Officers (DEOs) removed 10,25,987 PSEs. Hyderabad was the city with the highest number of PSEs. It was followed by Medchal Malkajgiri with the second highest PSEs. Medak had the lowest number of PSEs.
A total of 50 percent of Photo Similar Entries (PSEs) have been deleted in all 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana. Telangana identified 22,04,663 PSEs; however, 10,25,987 PSEs were removed from the electoral roll. Several cards with the same photograph of the same voter are known as PSEs. The number of cards that a voter possesses could be multiplied by the number of votes he wishes to make.
It’s no surprise that Hyderabad leads the list of districts in terms of the deletion of PSEs, as out of the 5,41,535 PSEs identified, about 2,68,542 similar entries were deleted by July 28. A similar amount was removed from Medchal-Malkajgiri district, where 1,62,232 similar entries were deleted, Rangareddy, where 3,33,991 PSEs were deleted, Nizamabad, where 79,313 PSEs were deleted and in Sangareddy of the 73,831 voters about 32,298 were removed.
PSEs: what are they?
There are multiple cards with the same voter’s photograph on them. Often called bogus voter identification cards, this practice is on the rise.
PSEs are usually discovered when two or more assembly constituencies have the same name on their electoral rolls.
