Faridabad: In broad daylight, a 21-year-old student in Haryana was shot dead just outside her college by a man who initially attempted to push her into his car. The woman’s murder on the road, hardly 30 km from Delhi, has been captured in a terrifying video that displays her efforts to save herself before being shot at point-blank range.
The episode had occurred around 3.40 pm on Monday outside a college in Ballabgarh in Faridabad, where the girl, Nikita Tomar, had gone to take an examination. She was a commerce student in her final year.
The culprits, Touseef, and his friend Rehan were apparently waiting in a vehicle for her to come out. Nikita and Touseef knew one another and he had already kidnapped her once in 2018 as well, said Faridabad police officer OP Singh.
In the security footage, Nikita and her friend are seen close to the vehicle, desperately attempting to evade the firearm waving attacker.
The man continues pursuing her before finally Shot dead. His friend at that point hauls him to the vehicle and they drive off, leaving Nikita bleeding on the road, her friend watching in terror. She passed away in the hospital.
Touseef and Rehan have been taken into custody, as per the police. The girl’s father had complained against him in 2018 however had pulled the complaint back, as indicated by the police.
The father said to NDTV: “We complained earlier in 2018 about Touseef harassing my daughter and we had withdrawn the complaint to protect our daughter’s name. Now they have killed my daughter.”
He continued: “My daughter went for an examination at the college. He tried to forcibly make her sit in his car but she refused. After a brief scuffle, he shot her.”
Nikita’s mother, who is also in shock over her daughter’s death, stated: I want justice for my daughter. They should be shot the same way they shot her.”
The National Commission for Woman has observed the occurrence from the video circulating on the web and has written to the Haryana police chief to get the other accused.
