3-day celebration to be held by TRS for International Women’s Day

From March 6 to 8, the TRS party will hold three-day celebrations as part of the International Women’s Day celebrations.

TRS working president KT Rama Rao held a teleconference with MLAs, party leaders, and workers on Thursday to discuss the festivities to be held in commemoration of Mahila Bandhu K Chandrashekhar Rao’s women-oriented welfare and protection programmes.

The celebrations will begin on March 6 with various sections of women tying Rakhis to the Chief Minister. Students, doctors, sanitation workers, and leaders of SHGs groups will be felicitated later. Human chains resembling “Thank You KCR” would then be formed.

TRS leaders will visit the homes of Kalyana Lakshmi, KCR kit beneficiaries, and other welfare programme beneficiaries on March 7 and engage with family members.

On the final day, special meetings with women at the constituency level would be held to discuss various topics and involve them in various programmes.

Telangana was the only state where the Kalyana Lakshmi programme resulted in 10 lakh marriages. According to KT Rama Rao, 11 lakh people have benefited from the KCR kit distribution programme.

The State’s mother and child mortality rates have decreased significantly as a result of the effective implementation of the KCR kits distribution programme. On the other hand, he said, deliveries in government hospitals had grown significantly.

He said each beneficiary receives Rs.13,000 in benefits under the programme, and Rs.1700 crore was spent on its implementation.

Similarly, he added, the state government has spent almost Rs.9022 crore on the Kalyana Lakshmi programme, which has helped over 10.30 lakh women.

In addition, the TRS working president stated that the Telangana government is providing Asara pensions to single women and beedi workers, as well as interest-free loans to women SHGs. He mentioned that She Teams and Bharosa Centres were established to help women boost confidence.

Exclusive residential schools and junior and degree colleges were established to promote women’s education. Aside from that, he said, 70 lakh health and hygiene kits were distributed across the state.

“While others were confined with announcing Beti Padhao and Beti Bachao slogans, the Telangana government was providing quality education to girls and guaranteeing the safety and protection of women through a variety of programmes,” Rama Rao added.

There was a need to commemorate International Women’s Day on a great scale this year because the State Government was undertaking such welfare and development programmes, particularly for women, and had reached significant milestones.
