The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) added Rs 13.90 crore to its coffers in just two days as 34,540 people paid property taxes online through the civic body’s Property Tax Early Bird Scheme.
In this scheme, building owners are eligible to receive a 5 percent rebate on their property taxes and April 30th is the last day to take advantage of the discount. In general, the rebate applies only to this year’s taxes, not to those in arrears.
GHMC has already sent text messages to all property owners with a web link and those wishing to take advantage of the offer can pay the property tax online by using the link or by visiting https://www.ghmc.gov.in/.
Tax can also be paid through GHMC Citizen Services Centers, MeeSeva Centers, and through the bill collectors starting April 6.

Digital payment facility for property tax
Recently, the Greater Hyderabad municipal corporation (GHMC) has taken steps to make property tax payments more convenient through digital options.
In this regard, the IT section of the GHMC has begun accepting property tax payments through the scanning of QR codes of the UPI, Phone Pe, PayTM and other mobile wallet payment facilities.
In addition to paying property taxes through the GHMC website, citizens can also use the MyGHMC app and citizen service centres.
GHMC officials informed that property tax payments can be made online through a debit or credit card through the GHMC website that will be connected to the MyGHMC app.
When the tax amount is paid in cash or through a check to the tax inspectors or collectors, the details will be recorded in tablets and a receipt will be issued on the spot.
Digital payments are being considered as an additional method of paying property taxes by the corporation.
