Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, a cross-border love story has captured attention in Jammu and Kashmir. A soldier from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Munir Ahmed, has married a Pakistani woman, Manel Khan, who recently crossed the border to be with him at his village, Bhalwal in Jammu. The marriage has sparked widespread interest in the region.
Munir Ahmed, currently posted in Shiv Khori, Reasi district, tied the knot with Manel Khan, a resident of Gujranwala in Pakistan’s Punjab province, on May 24, 2024. Due to visa restrictions, the couple opted for a video conference wedding, making their union official despite the geographical divide.
Following the marriage, Manel was granted a 15-day visa and entered India via the Attari-Wagah border to meet her husband and in-laws. Upon her arrival, she was welcomed with traditional customs, and her entry became a major talking point in the village. Locals gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the Pakistani bride as she stepped into her new home.

The development has also drawn the attention of intelligence agencies, who are on alert and closely monitoring Manel’s activities in India. Authorities, acknowledging the sensitivity of the situation, have kept a watchful eye to ensure security protocols are followed. However, Munir’s family has defended the marriage, emphasizing that Manel entered India legally with proper clearance from all relevant agencies.
The family further stated that Manel has seamlessly adapted to her new life and has been taking care of household responsibilities. They noted that she has even been preparing traditional Rajasthani dishes, adding warmth to her welcome in the family.
As their love story unfolds, the couple’s unique journey stands as a testament to how love transcends borders, despite the political tensions that often divide nations.
