Hyderabad: The famous child rights activist Achyuta Rao today died due to coronavirus in the city. Rao who was infected with the virus a few days back, was admitted to a private hospital at Malakpet in the city.
He was put on a ventilator by the hospital authorities. However, he breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the hospital. He was 58 years old. The brother of Achyuta Rao and famous cartoonist Sridhar was also affected by the virus but had recovered completely a couple of days back. Rao has carried out a lot of agitations for protecting the rights of the Children AP and Telangana.
He established an NGO in the name of Balala Hakkuka Sangham and fought for the protection of the rights of the children. He also rescued several children from slavery and child Marriages through his NGO.
