Adulterated Milk Case in Hyderabad: Moolrasa Milk Owner Booked

The owner of Moolrasa Milk, a well-known provider of desi cow milk in the city, has been charged by the Hyderabad police. The case was brought in response to a complaint submitted by S.K. Sinha, a 69-year-old former IAS official who is a kidney transplant survivor and was instructed by doctors to take calcium-rich milk on a daily basis.

Sinha began getting milk from Moolrasa Milk because his supply of cow’s milk from a friend’s cows was interrupted due to the cow becoming pregnant. He was paying Rs 150 a liter for milk that was said to be of excellent quality and pure. However, after a few days of drinking the milk, Sinha began to experience itching on his feet, which he originally ignored. His condition deteriorated further, with fluid accumulating in both feet and considerable back discomfort.

As Sinha’s health deteriorated, he became suspicious of the milk’s quality and called the proprietor of Moolrasa Milk to cease the delivery. The owner allegedly threatened him in response. Sinha filed a complaint with the Jubilee Hills Police Station, accusing the milk supplier of supplying tainted milk, which resulted in serious health concerns.

Based on the complaint, the police have opened an investigation under IPC Sections 272 (adulteration of milk intended for sale) and 273 (knowingly selling any dangerous substance as food or drink). An investigation is under ongoing to ascertain the validity of the allegations and to pursue legal action against those responsible.
