After weeklong showers, life in City gets back to normalcy on Friday

Following weeklong showers, the Hyderabad City have a sigh of relief on Friday with no fresh rains were witnessed since morning while the temperature went slightly up at post noon as the bright Sun appeared over the sky atleast for a few moments.

People heave a sigh of relief from consistent showers on Friday while the normal life found getting back to normalcy after a weeklong monsoon rains.

During the last six days, the city and the neighbouring districts witnessed concurrent rains that brought normal life to its knees forcing the Telangana government to declare holiday twice in the week. Besides educational institutions, the government offices too witnessed less attendance ever since the monsoon rains set into motion last week.

Water bodies in the city and districts received significant inflows again from catchment areas during the last six days while fear grips the people living around the lakes and ponds that were wrecked havoc last year.

The Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar on the city outskirts have received inflows during the week-long showers that prompted the authorities to lift a few gates to release the water in Musi River. While the Osman Sagar Lake is still receiving inflows from catchment areas, the Himayat Sagar Lake reportedly fell short of inflows since Thursday.

The week-long showers take a heavy toll on the supply of essential commodities to the City as road networks at several districts were severely hit due to overflowing of streams and canals at different places. Markets in the city were found wearing a deserted look due to no fresh supplies which otherwise flooded with fresh food stocks and brimming customers.

However, Friday morning brought some respite to the city as no showers were reported anywhere from the City while the post noon jump in temperature raised a hope that a situation will get back to normalcy soon.
