All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Tuesday released its first list of 7 candidates in Hyderabad for the ensuing assembly election in Telangana.
Party President and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi’s younger brother Akbaruddin Owaisi would contest from Chandrayangutta assembly segment here.
The other candidates announced were : Ahmed Pasha Quadri from Yakutpura, Mumtaz Ahmed Khan (Charminar), Mohd Moazam Khan (Bahadurpura) ; Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala (Malakpet); Jaffar Hussain Meraj(Nampally) and Kausar Mohiuddin (Karwan), the party said in a release here.
All the seven candidates are sitting MLAs.
AIMIM has held the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat since 1984. In the 2014 Telangana Legislative Assembly election, the party had won seven seats .
The AIMIM was initially a city-based party, with influence only in Old Hyderabad, but the party won two seats in the 2014 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election.
