Bollywood had a particularly rough start to the new week after 3 actors posted their health status on their respective social media platforms, announcing that they were covid-19 positive. One of them was Akshay Kumar who got admitted to a hospital due to the virus today. The second became Vicky Kaushal who was shooting for his upcoming movie with Bhumi Pednekar. The actress has also tested positive for the disease.
This came after India reported the highest ever single-day cases crossing the 1 lakh mark on Sunday. Mumbai contributed 11,000 of those cases as Maharashtra remains one of the worst-hit states in the country struggling to control its covid numbers. As such, the Shiv Sena government announced a night curfew and a weekend lockdown to curb the spread starting today. Apart from this, there are also other restrictions imposed across the state.
Actor Akshay Kumar broke the internet today morning after giving a Monday blue announcement that he has been hospitalized “as a precautionary measure”.
Just yesterday the actor had posted saying that he has contracted the virus. The 53-year-old shared a statement saying, “I wish to inform everyone that, earlier this morning, I have tested positive for COVID-19. Following all the protocols, I have immediately isolated myself.”
With an active lifestyle, the actor was shooting for his movie Ram Setu. Reportedly, now around 45 members of the film’s crew have also tested positive for the virus. With 100 people on board, the infected people include 40 junior artists and 5 people of Akshay’s team.
Akshay Kumar recently began filming his new project Ram Setu. B.N Tiwari, President, Federation of Western India Cine Employees, said, “They all have been quarantined after testing positive. Out of those, 40 were junior artistes while the rest were Akshay’s make up team, their assistants. Now the shooting has been halted indefinitely.”
Joining the list of infected celebrities were Vicky Kaushal and Bhumi Pednekar, co-stars in the movie Mr Lele who announced that they are positive for covid-19 on Monday. They said in separate statements that despite taking all necessary precautions, they still caught the virus.
In other news, actor Karthik Aryan who had contracted covid-19 in March got recovered from the disease and shared the happy news after completing his 14-day “vanvas”.
More and more Bollywood celebs are testing positive for the virus. Alia Bhatt announced her positive test result recently, shortly after boyfriend Ranbir Kapoor caught the virus. His mother Neetu Kapoor had also got the disease along with her co-star of Jugg Jugg Jeeyo Varun Dhawan. Fatima Sana Shaikh has also tested positive for covid-19.
