All barren lands will turn fertile in Zaheerabad soon: Harish

Finance & Health Minister T Harish Rao said that the face of the Zaheerabad Assembly constituency would change forever and all the barren lands would be turned fertile once the Sangameshwara Lift Irrigation Project (SLIP) is completed.

Harish Rao said the State government was constructing the SLIP at an estimated cost of Rs 3,000 crore, aimed at bringing the Godavari water to the Zaheerabad area for drinking and irrigation needs. “Once the project is completed, it will change the face of Zaheerabad forever,” the Minister added.

As part of ‘Nagara Baata’ programme, Harish Rao on Tuesday toured the lanes and bylanes of the Zaheerabad town on cycle. He examined the ongoing development works by pedalling his way into every corner of the town and asked the officials concerned to speed up the works.

Harish Rao also said the new pipelines were laid at the cost of Rs 19 crore in the town aimed at providing drinking water to all households and these works were almost at the competing stage.

While the NIMZ is all set for the operation of industries, Harish Rao said they have got a defence industry close to Zaheerabad, which will boost the development of the Assembly constituency. Alleging that former Minister Geeta Reddy, who represented the Zaheerabad Assembly segment twice, had failed to take up the development activities and has ignored the public issues, Harish Rao said the present MLA Manikya Rao was actively working for the development of Assembly cnstituency and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has allocated Rs 50 crore to the constituency specially.

MLA K Manik Rao, TRS district president Chintha Prabhakar, TSMIDC Chairman Errolla Srinivas, other elected representatives and officials of Zaheerabad Municipality were present. (
