Apple has found itself in yet another attack. However, this time, Russia-based hackers attacked Apple with a $50 million ransomware via a Taiwan-based company. The company manufactures MacBooks and other products.
Cybercriminals Attacked During the Apple Spring Loaded Event
As per the latest reports, the operators of the REvil Ransomware demanded that Apple pays them a ransom for $50 million to avoid any confidential information to be leaked on the Dark Web.

The attackers attacked Apple during their “Spring Loaded” event. And the leaked files on the Dark Web show “schematics for Macbook Laptops”. REvil is a Russian hacking group that also goes by the name Sodinokibi. During the attack, the hackers claim that some of the Apple data after they breached the Quanta Computer.
Quanta Computer is a Taiwanese company that is said to be the biggest laptop manufacturer in the world. Reports suggest that the attackers claim that Quanta refused to pay any amount to get their stolen data back. Following which, the REvil has now decided to go to Apple’s primary customers.
None Of The Leaked Files Appears To Have Confidential Data
As per the reports, Quanta had refused to pay the $50 million ransom for the stolen data. The REvil operators said that their team is ready to negotiate the sale of huge quantities of confidential drawings and gigabytes of personal data.
REvil has further said that Apple may choose to buy the data by May 1. Some of the brands that Quanta Computers manufactures laptops for includes HP, Dell, Microsoft, Toshiba, Lenovo, LG and many others.

So far, the files that have been leaked only show the schematics for Macbook laptops. And none of the files particularly have any sensitive or confidential information.
The information leaked in the files is said to be more about assembling and some of the technical details of Macbook laptops. But it is unclear, if the data in the files is about a new product or just some updated technical specifications of the existing ones.
