“Arogya Sanjeevani” Park opened at Gurramguda

Hyderabad: Another Urban Forest Park for the benefit of the citizens has come into being at Gurramguda on the LB Nagar-Nagarjuna Sagar Road. Chief Secretary S K Joshi, along with Forest Department and Ranga Reddy district officials inaugurated the “Arogya Sanjeevani” Park on Tuesday. The park was developed for convenience of the people of LB Nagar, BN Reddy Nagar, Turkayamjal, Nadargul, Manneguda and other surrounding places.

The Gurramguda Reserve Forest (RF) is located 22 km from Hyderabad, on Hyderabad –Nagarjuna Sagar Road. Administratively, it falls Ibrahimpatnam section and Range. The total area of the RF is 188.18 ha (465.00 acres). Gurramguda Forest Block was declared Reserve Forest under section 4 of A.P. Forest Act 1967, vide G.O. Ms. No. 778 F & A (For-III) dated 18.06.1971. The notification was also published in the state gazette No. supplement 23-C to part-I Dt. 12/8/1971, as well as Hyderabad District Gazette No.15 Dt. 26.07.1971. Subsequently proposals under section 15 were processed by the Forest Settlement Officer, Ranga Reddy District under A.P. Forest Act and submitted through Lr. No. B/1478/1970 dated 20.12.2004 to the District Collector, Ranga Reddy District Hyderabad. The District Collector, Ranga Reddy has approved the proposals under section 15 of AP Forest Act, 1967, vide Lr. No. E2/8097/08, Dt. 02.03.2008.

The roads passing through the Gurramguda RF Block has divided this forest into three bits; Sahebnagar Depot (13 ha), Gurramguda Bit-I (60 ha), and Gurramguda Bit-II (115.18 ha). Out of these, the Sahebnagar Depot bit has already been developed as Sanjeevani Vanam and was opened for public on 10-11-2015 by the then Hon’ble Minister for Forests, Govt. of Telangana.

The present area (Bit-I) is developed as Urban Forest Park by adding selected Adventure Sports, Children Play area, Cycling Track, Pathways, Platforms, Public Conveniences, Raashi Vanam, Nakshatra Vanam, Miyawaki Demonstration Plantation, Watchtower. Additionally, 30 ha miscellaneous plantation is also being raised in the area. (NSS)
