The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) alumnus stunned over 700 delegates when he stated that 65% of eighth graders could only answer second-grade questions during the education segment of the day-long seminar titled, ‘Building a Holistic Community: Strategies and Solutions.’

Dr. J. John Rozario Jegaraj, Scientist F, Technology Director, DRDL, DRDO, Hyderabad, a recipient of the 2018 Engineer of the year award from the Government of Telangana and the Institute of Engineers, was the chief guest. Exploring issues on health was Dr. Surendranath, Pediatrics Department Head, Vijay Marie Hospital, Hyderabad and President of Academy of Pediatrics, Telangana State Fellowship in allergy and clinical immunology.
‘Holistic Health and its importance for women’s well-being,’ was the theme discussed by panel speakers Dr. RSV Sri Krishna, Dr. Suchitra and Dr. Jayanthi Reddy, where they also examined ‘Mental health, maternal health and prevention of non-communicable diseases.’
‘Empowering Voices: A Call to Action for Social Change,’ steered by Tashi Choedup, a trans-feminine Buddhist monk and founding member of Telangana Hijra Intersex Transgender Samiti, highlighted the importance of community work and human rights.
