As resentment grows, the AIMIM Chief breaks silence over mosques issue

Apparently conceding the demand for clarification from opposition parties, Muslims forums, as well as the community itself, the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, has finally appeared in a video clarifying that the two mosques that demolished recently in the state secretariat will be reconstructed on the same place where they were raised to the ground.

Following the demolition of two Mosques on 7th July, a flurry of protests was organized by the opposition parties mainly from congress besides some other forums in the city. The Congress party even started scathing attacks on the government over the issue while the incidents also attracted wrath from the Muslim community who vehemently demanded reconstruction of religious structures questioning the tolerant image of Chief Minister K.Chandrashakher Rao. This incident also mounts pressure on the AIMIM party, an ally of the TRS government ever since the pink party forms the government in a newly formed Telangana state.

The incident radiates a widespread outrage among the Muslim community that forced the community scholars who open up against the autocratic rule of the KCR government. Similarly, some of the Muslim organizations in the city too joined hands to unleash a collective flair of demonstrations against the desecration of mosques. They formed a Joint Action Committee (JAC) to mount pressure on the government for the reconstruction of mosques on the same place where they were raised to the ground.

Initially, it was comprehended that the blow of steam smoldered out of the rubble of sacred structures would settle down over the course of time but this has gone completely another way around.

The opposition parties, seizing the opportunity, jumped into the stormwater and start firing salvos against the government questioning its audacity that trampled the ethos of Hyderabad City’s pluralistic culture known as Ganga Jamna Tahzeeb.

The JAC of “Baazyabi Secretariat Masajid”, an amalgamation of 40 organizations supported by the main opposition party Congress, even moves one step further by handing over the government two weeks of ultimatum for the reconstruction of mosques. Mushtaq Malik of Tahreek Muslim Shaban (TMS) and a young Congress leader Mohammed Osman Khan, the torch bearers of the campaign, have successfully turned the frustration of the people into support for the cause. The “one million signature campaign” has achieved the target in just a span of two weeks and turned into a watertight case against the KCR government. Foisting black flags on the houses and distribution of stickers with messages of resentment and demand are the other programs that made this campaign more meaningful and cemented the cause.

Meanwhile, much of the outburst of the public from the old city came against the AIMIM party, represented by its Chief Asaduddin Owaisi, for playing the role of mute spectator all these days against the demolition of mosques. From political figures to representatives of different forums, almost all of them have seen expressing their resentment against the party for playing truant at a time when the people hitting the roads against the desecration of religious structures. The social media platform especially the Whatsapp groups were pounded over with criticisms besides questioning the silence of the party and the tolerant image of the KCR government.

It is against this background, the people said, the pressure gradually mounted on the government thereby the AIMIM party that led to an unexpected development wherein the party chief made an appearance through a video with the obvious proclamation that the mosques will be rebuilt on the same places where they were raised to the ground.

In this video, the AIMIM Chief was also seen criticizing the naysayers as well as the opposition party Congress saying that “The adversaries will never gain anything out of their outcries while he and his party will stand resolutely on its path.”
