Asaduddin Owaisi Leads Voter Turnout in Hyderabad as Telangana Polls Kick Off

As the sun rose over Telangana on Monday, voters across the state queued up at polling stations to cast their votes in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The vibrant democratic exercise witnessed an enthusiastic participation, with a notable voter turnout recorded in the initial hours.

In the first two hours of polling, approximately 9.51 per cent of votes were cast across all 17 Lok Sabha constituencies in Telangana. The electoral process commenced at 7 a.m., with polling stations deploying stringent security measures to ensure a smooth and safe voting experience for citizens.

 

In Hyderabad, a significant political event unfolded as Asaduddin Owaisi, President of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) and candidate for the Hyderabad constituency, cast his vote along with his family members. The Hyderabad constituency, known for its diverse demographics and political significance, saw 75 candidates vying for the attention of over 45.91 lakh eligible voters.

Meanwhile, among the constituencies, Adilabad recorded the highest voter turnout of 13.22 per cent by 9 a.m., followed closely by Zahirabad with 12.88 per cent. However, the Secunderabad constituency, located in the state capital, reported the lowest polling percentage at 5.40 per cent during the same period.

In preparation for the polls, polling officers from various parts of the city gathered at Distribution and Reception Centres (DRCs) to collect essential polling materials, including Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The meticulous arrangements aimed to facilitate a seamless electoral process and uphold the democratic ethos of the nation.

As polling continues throughout the day, the citizens of Telangana are actively participating in shaping the future of their constituencies and the nation at large. The Election Commission’s efforts, coupled with the enthusiastic engagement of voters, underscore the significance of democratic participation in shaping the country’s political landscape.
