As the Israeli-Hamas confrontation rages on in Gaza, AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi has made an emotional plea to India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. Owaisi urged the Indian government to establish a humanitarian corridor in Gaza, expressing great concern for innocent civilians trapped in the crossfire.
On October 23, Owaisi strongly encouraged the world community to notice the catastrophic humanitarian situation in Gaza during a big public assembly in Hyderabad. His appeal comes as the death toll rises, with countless lives forever changed by the protracted battle.
The battle has reached catastrophic dimensions since it began on October 7, 2023, with a concerted surprise onslaught against Israel. The attack comprises a bombardment of over 5,000 rockets launched from Gaza on Israel, killing thousands and injuring many more. In a terrible twist, the violence has also affected the lives of international journalists, with an Israeli shell recently falling amid a group of reporters, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
The siege has aggravated the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza by cutting off basic supplies including as food, gasoline, power, and medication. Furthermore, an Internet connectivity problem is exacerbating the already severe situation in Gaza City, with connectivity falling below 20%.
In a surprising turn of events, senior UN officials have declared that the need for gasoline in Gaza is as “urgent as water and food.” This highlights the urgent need for humanitarian assistance and the creation of a humanitarian corridor, as recommended by Asaduddin Owaisi.
According to Owaisi, roughly 50,000 pregnant women in Gaza are suffering as a result of a lack of proper medical services. He urged Prime Minister Modi, especially now that India has the G20 presidency, to condemn the ongoing bloodshed and provide much-needed humanitarian aid to the beleaguered people of Gaza.
This public conference, held at the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) headquarters in Darussalam, saw representatives from various political and religious organizations overwhelmingly adopt a resolution criticizing Israel’s activities against Palestine. The resolution recalls India’s long history of solidarity with victims of apartheid and colonialism, and it urges support for the Palestinian fight to end the occupation of their territories.
While the situation in Gaza remains difficult and a source of global concern, Asaduddin Owaisi’s call for a humanitarian corridor demonstrates the compassion of many across the world who are extremely distressed by the region’s continuous suffering.
As the battle continues, the international community’s priority is to provide urgent and long-term humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. The predicament of Gaza’s residents emphasizes the critical importance of finding a long-term solution to this deeply entrenched and deadly war.
