Assam CM’s comments on Hijab, a slap on BJP’s own face: Congress

As against the BJP’s policy to tarnish the image of Islam and portraying Quran as the scripture that propagates terrorism, The Chief Minister in Assam Himanta Biswa Sharma while defending the ban on Hijab in the educational institution said, “The entire holy Quran based on spreading knowledge. The verses of holy book begins primarily with the word ‘Iqra’ that denote as ‘Read.’ Even the messenger Mohammed enjoined the Muslims not to hesitate to travel as far as China to pursue knowledge.”

Adding an illogical spur to his argument while talking to a media today, he said, “How a teacher know that the students are listening him or her attentively in the classroom when one is sitting on the benches without wearing hijab and another has donning the same over the head!”

Making another false claim that that the issue was not there in the college three years back, he said, “The Hijab issue brought to the fore out of the blue buttressed with a political support. The cases filed in the High Court as well as in Supreme Court in favour of hijab are being defended by Congress lawyers. This is a plot to divide the country. What Muslim community needs the most today is education not the hijab,” he said.

Adding more assertion to his illogical argument he said, “I believe there are two types of Islam, one is purely ‘religious’ and another is completely ‘political.’ The religious Islam no doubt will move according to Quran that primarily propagate spreading of knowledge. However, the political Islam is sponsored by Congress party to suit its political agenda.”

When asked whether he demand a complete banned on wearing Hijab in educational institutions in the country, he continued his insensitive chatter with a reply that “Why do we need to impose ban on hijab in the country when no one really wears it. People generally won’t use this type of attire at all. Our students go to institutions only to learn Mathematics and Science where hijab is not at all an issue.

Blaming that the issue is a creation of the Congress party, he said “The issue is politically motivated and Congress is playing behind the scene. It is a part of appeasement policy waxed with radicalisation of Islam. I can make a mention of Gowahati in my state where all the Muslim girls go to institutions and hijab is not an issue here.”

The Assam Chief Minister said “At a time when the examinations are going on and preparations are important to crack the same, the Muslim girls were pushed on the roads to fight for hijab.”

Ridiculing the comments made by the Assam Chief Minister over Jihab row, Osman Alhajri said, a senior Congress Leader said, “Atleast the resoluteness of our Muslim sisters leaves the BJP leaders mends their minds to accept the reality that holy Quran teaches about spreading education and not hatred or terrorism as the saffron party try to claim all these years. Actually the comments of Himanta Biswa Sharma are a slap on BJP’s own face.”
