Guwahati: In a significant operation, Assam Police have confiscated Drugs worth a staggering Rs. 3.5 crore in Karimganj district and apprehended three individuals in connection with the case, according to a senior officer’s statement on Saturday.
Karimganj SP Partha Pratim Das informed IANS that the operation was initiated based on a tip-off, prompting authorities to conduct a meticulous search in the Ratabari area, located near the Mizoram border, during Friday night. It was during this operation that they intercepted a vehicle arriving from Mizoram. To their surprise, narcotic substances were discovered concealed inside numerous soapboxes carried in the vehicle.
A substantial haul of 563 grams of heroin was uncovered, stashed within 52 soapboxes.
The three arrested individuals have been identified as Giyas Uddin, Numan Uddin, and Abu Bakkar. Among them, Giyas Uddin hails from Tripura, while the other two are residents of Karimganj district.
Following their detention, the police have initiated an interrogation of the trio to shed light on any potential connections to interstate drug trafficking. As the investigation proceeds, authorities are working diligently to uncover further details.
