Assam Police spreads covid-19 awareness, the SRK style

Assam Police’s smart move to spread the message of following the social distancing norms was praised by all on social media for inculcating King Khan’s infamous dialogue and hook step.

The officials twisted the signature pose of Shahrukh Khan by photo-shopping a mask on his face and depicting the stretched arms to be the amount of distance to be maintained from each other. The picture read as, “Bas itna sa distance rakhna hai! (Only this much distance has to be maintained) #SocialDistancing,” with the legend’s arms mentioning the 6-feet to be kept between each other.

Moreover, the dialogue of SRK from his popular movie, Baazigar, was also tweaked by the Assam police to include the message intended to be spread regarding the dire need and significance of keeping distance from people and how it will prove to be beneficial in the future for a mask-free world.

The tweet read, “Social Distancing can save lives. Or as @iamsrk would say, “Kabhi kabhi paas aaane ke liye kuch door jaana padta hai, aur door jakar paas aane walon ko Baazigar kehte hai.” Stay Six feet apart and be a Baazigar! #SocialDistancing  #IndiaFightsCorona”

Twitter users applauded the department’s hilarious yet clever move with some fans tweeting, “Even Indian Police knows that only a picture of SRK is enough to spread awareness.”

The actor’s signature pose was used previously as well by the Assam police, but that time it was to spread the importance of traffic rules and regulations. It took place in 2018 when Jalukbari ACP Ponjit Dowerah shared an image on social media of the actor. The picture showed SRK holding a placard in one of his outstretched arms reading, “Traffic niyam ka kripaya palan kare (Please follow traffic rules).”

It was reposted by Shahrukh Khan on his own Twitter page where he wrote, “The best message I think this pose has conveyed. Please please follow traffic rules.”

Moreover, a clip from one of the superstar’s movies was shared by the Mumbai Police as well in April. The instant in “Main Hoon Na” where Shahrukh was shown performing a Matrix-inspired backward bend with supernatural flexibility was transformed into a meme which was originally featured to help him stay safe from the saliva expulsion of Satish Shah.

The meme’s caption read, “@iamsrk wouldn’t need to do such stunts any longer — Mask Hai Na!”

In a time when many people are neither staying vigilant nor following any precautionary measures to protect themselves from the highly contagious virus, such creative steps from the authorities help in educating the common man regarding the infection and the ways to protect oneself.
