Hyderabad: The SR Nagar police today arrested parents and four other members of a woman’s family for allegedly attacking her husband in broad daylight at SR Nagar on Friday. Two other suspects were absconding.
Talking to mediapersons here on Sunday, Punjagutta West Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police A R Srinivas said the absconding accused will be nabbed soon. He also warned that the Telangana government would not tolerate rowdyism and the culprits would be dealt with iron hand. The DCP said victim Sheikh Imtiyaz Ali, son of Rahmat Ali, a painter of Nalsabgadda in Maqdoom Nagar near Sanga Reddy was in love affair with Zainab Fatima, daughter of Mohsin Ali of Borabanda and married her in a dargah in Sadashivpet on Ramzan day without the consent of her family.
The girl’s parents told police that Zainab Fatima left her house on June 5 on pretext of buying bangles and did not return home. On a complaint from the girl’s father, the SR Nagar police registered a missing case. Meanwhile, the couple approached the Sangareddy police and sought protection from the girl’s family members. After counseling the couple, the Sangareddy police informed the parents of both and also SR Nagar police. Enraged over their marriage, the family members of Zainab Fatima attacked Imtiyaz after calling the newly weds for talks.
Later, a team of SR Nagar police went to Sangareddy and brought Zainab Fatima and handed her over to her parents. In a pre-meditated manner, the girl’s father called Imtiyaz on phone and told him to take away his wife. Suspecting Mohsin Ali’s intentions, Imtiyaz refused to do so. Mohsin Ali again called the victim on phone from police station and asked him to come to police station and take away the girl after giving a written assurance that the girl would be looked after well.
Believing Mohsin Ali’s words, Imtiyaz, along with his parents, came to the police station in a car and left for Sangareddy after giving a written assurance. While they were returning home, the girl’s parents Mohsin Ali and Zakira Begum, bothers Syed Farooq, Syed Ahmed, their relative Zaiba Fatima and two noted criminals Sohail and Rabbani followed the victim’s car and waylaid them near the ICICI bank in SR Nagar and attacked Imtiyaz. When Imtiyaz was on the run to escape, the accused chased the victim and inflicted multiple injuries with a knife. Zainab Fatima also lost her finger while trying to stop the accused from stabbing her husband.
The SR Nagar police rushed to the spot and shifted the newly-wed couple to a private hospital and registered a case of attempt to murder and arrested Syed Farooq Ali, Syed Mohsin Ali, Syed Mohd Ali, Syed Ahmed Ali, Zakira Begum, Syed Zaba Fatima and started a hunt for two other accused. (NSS)
