Australia To Employ 2000 Healthcare Workers Across Borders Amidst Covid 19

With the economy being shut across the world from a long time and the slow rate of recovery along with the consistent fear of another wave hitting the world, the Australian government on Saturday revealed their plans to bring healthcare workers into the country.

Australia Plans To Bring 2000 Doctors And Nurses

Health Minister Greg Hunt announced the plan and said that the government is planning to employ around 2000 doctors and nurses mainly from Britain and Ireland. They will be further exempted from strict travel restrictions to take up jobs in the country. The country’s international border is expected to re-open in November.

Hunt has further described the move as a “one-ff boost” for the health system after he rejected the plea from the state and territory governments when they had initially asked for more hospital funding to cope with the increasing covid 19 cases.

“This will be a one-off boost to provide additional support. The Commonwealth is committed to it and the states are working constructively with us on it,” he told the local media.

He further added that there are people coming from all parts of the world. The free flow of people is important.
