Balapur Ganesh laddu auctioned for a whopping Rs 24.6 lakh

In the recent auction, Hyderabad’s most famous Balapur Ganesh laddu was auctioned for Rs. 24 lakh and 60 thousand.

TRS leader V Laxma Reddy won the auction that began on Friday morning. The auction takes place every year on the final day of the immersion of the Ganesh idol.

The laddu sold for Rs. 18.90 lakh last year. Ramesh Yadav of the YSR Congress and Marri Shashank Reddy, his partner, won the auction.

The laddu was auctioned in 1994 for Rs. 450. The auction amount has increased each year, reaching Rs. 26.6 lakh today.

Security tight in Hyderabad for Ganesh immersion

There will be massive security arrangements in and around Hyderabad on Friday for the Ganesh immersion processions.

In light of recent disturbances over an offensive video posted by the now suspended BJP MLA Raja Singh, police have stepped up their vigilance across Hyderabad and Secunderabad and their surroundings.

A total of 25,000 policemen have been deployed across three police commissionerates – Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda.

Security arrangements have been made in Hyderabad’s Old City, which is a communally sensitive area.

As Raja Singh remains in judicial custody, police have stepped up security in his constituency Gosha Mahal.

Mangalhat, Begum Bazar, and other areas are being closely monitored to prevent any untoward incidents.

There will be over 40,000 idols immersed in Hussain Sagar and more than 50 other lakes and artificial ponds around the city.

Due to a dispute over immersion in Hussain Sagar lake, additional security measures have been put in place. The courts have prohibited the immersion of idols made of Plaster of Paris (PoP).

In accordance with the high court’s orders, only clay idols will be permitted to be immersed in Hussain Sagar. The city has 31 lakes and 74 baby ponds where pop idols can be immersed.
