Bangladesh Plans To Impose Complete Lockdown Amidst Rising Covid 19 Cases

Bangladesh is also facing a sudden surge in the Covid 19 cases across the country. A minister announced that the government is planning to impose a full lockdown from April 14, for a week to curb the surge.

Bangladesh Government Plans Lockdown Amidst Rising Cases 

The Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader announced on Friday a possibility of complete lockdown across the country. However, the government allowed the shops and malls to open on Thursday after some of the businesses took to protest.

However, the order will not be applied to utility and emergency services. The factories will remain open and the workers will work in shifts. All places will follow all the hygiene rules. At the same time, all the offices and the court will remain closed. But the industries and mill will continue to operate and will strictly adhere to the guidelines.

Farhad Hossain, State Minister for Public Administration confirmed the same. When asked about not shutting down the industries, he said that if the mills are closed then the workers will head for home.

Bangladesh Records 84.40 Percent Recovery Rate 

As per the latest reports, so far Bangladesh has reported 7,462 freshly confirmed cases and 63 deaths have been noted in the past 24 hours. The total number has reached 673,594 with 9,584 deaths.

As per the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said that 31,654 samples have been taken to test the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the past 24 hours.

At the same time, the country also saw recoveries of 3511 Covid patients and the total recoveries have reached to 568,541. As per the official data, Bangladesh’s current fatality rate is 1.42 percent and the recovery rate is 84.40 per cent.

The country reported the highest number of daily cases at 7,626 on Wednesday and the highest number of deaths on Thursday at 74.
